Distribution Dolmens of Gyeongkido |

|
Dolmens in Gyeongkido province are distributed along the area centering on the west coast and the Han river. As for the west coast, there are 122, 99, 26 and 18 pieces of dolmens in Ganghwado, Pajoo, Kimpo, and Inchon respectively. In Chori, Pajoo, there are 50 pieces including those which look like Gaeseok of dolmens and the actual number of dolmens may be fewer than reported. For 120 pieces of dolmens examined in Ganghwado, most of them including Historic No. 137 Ganghwa Dolmen are arranged on the flat ground and the hill 20m(22.2yds) above the sea level, but dolmen groups of Samkuri, Gochunri, and Kyosanri are located at the top of the mountain more than 100m(111yds) above the sea level. As for dolmens of Gyeongkido province, the northern type, the southern type and the Gaeseok type are combined. In Ganghwa province, 44 pieces of dolmens are the northern district type, and 35 pieces are defined as the southern district type. For Gyeongkido province except Ganghwado, it was proven that 68 are the northern district type, 116 are the southern district type and 16 are the Gaeseok type. The northern district type of dolmens are mostly distributed north of the Han river such as Ganghwado, Pochun, Yeonchun, Pajoo, and Kimpo. Also, a quarry was found in Ganghwado, through which a procedure of construction can be examined.
