Chungcheongnamdo(chungnam) is located between Pyeongando, Whanghaedo and Jeollado where are the most densely concentrated place of dolmens are found. However, the density of dolmens is lower compared with that of the other two areas. Here, 500 pieces of dolmens have been confirmed so far. They are densely concentrated in Buyeo which belongs to the Geumgang river bordering the southern part of the east coast. However, just ten pieces of dolmens were found in Seosan north of the west coast or the coastal area of Taean, and few dolmens were confirmed in Asan, Chonan, Dangjin and Yesan. Dolmens in this area were investigated to determine the inside structure and as a result, coffins made of stone plates were found in Wonbongri, Nonsan and Shinkiri. A transformed Korean mandolin-shaped bronze sword and stone arrowheads were excavated from the No. 1 Dolmen of Biraedong, Daejeon. They are valuable archeological data, which belong to early 1,000 A.D. .
