    About 60,000 megalithic monuments were excavated from about 600 relics within 2,500km(1,578mile) area along the Atlantic ocean. It is known that Ireland has about 1,571 and Russia has 2,400 megalithic tombs.

    ¢º Relics in Bretagne, France
    The representative relics of this area were built in the late 5000 A.D. or the early 4,000 A.D. Chambers for tombs are circle, oval and rectangular. Its wall is made of flat stone or broken stone and the chamber can be approached through various accesses. Dolmens are covered with magnificent cairn, which have one or a few dolmens inside.

    ¢º The Stonehenge in England
    These relics, which are located in Wessex south of England, are famous as a symbol of the megalithic culture. They were used from 3080 A.D., the late Neolithic age to 1600 A.D., the early Bronze age and transformed in four steps. They were mainly used until 1540 A.D. and what they were built for has been not exactly known yet.

    ¢º Dolmens in Caucasia, Russia
    Caucasia, which is located between Europe and Asia, is famous as the area of megalithic culture. Here dolmens are representative and they are distributed in Caucasia between the Black sea and the Caspian sea. The dolmens that appeared notably in the middle 3,000 A.D. are similar in appearance to Asian dolmens. They are mainly distributed at the shore or the riverside of mountainous areas. A group is composed of 10 or 12 dolmens. They are similar to our table-type dolmens.
